Most food requires a fair amount of processing before it is edible and many self-employment opportunities exist in this field — from a chef cooking meals for sale to the cooking and bottling of jams and condiments, such as salsas, etc. Long-term storage of food is something that will be of particular importance in the very near future. People, WICs in particular, will be stocking up on preserved food as a form of preparation for when food becomes less abundant. The art of fermenting foods will be a sought after skill!
